Robert O. Poirier, 87, of Gorham and previously of Berlin, died suddenly on Wednesday August 14, 2019. He was born in Barton, VT on June, 6, 1932 to Jacques and Yvonne (Bernier) Poirier. He moved to Berlin as a child, attended St. Kieran’s school and spent most of his life in the city. Robert served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Doris Marie and later married Helen Cotnoir.
Robert was honorably discharged from the Army and found work and various jobs eventually as a tissue operator at Cascade Towel, James River Co, local #75 until his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed fishing, eating out, playing cards, visiting with friends and going on long rides in the car. He was a member of VFW Post 2520 and F.O.E. 1464.
Robert is predeceased by his parents, first wife Doris and second wife Helen, two children Helen and Louise Poirier, seven brothers, Ernest Perry, George Poirier, Pete Poirier, Wilfred Perry, Leo Perry, Arthur Perry, and Aurel Perry, five sisters Anna Belanger, Theresa Girard, Marguerite Poirier, Alice Poirier and Jeannette King, a great-granddaughter Cloe Mulligan, and a step-father Conrad Hanson. He is survived by his daughter Nancy Daisey and her husband Karl of Gorham, a brother Lawrence Perry of Berlin, two grandchildren, Kim and Karen, four great-grandchildren, Lilly, L.J., Destiny, and Hunter, long-time companion Carmen Dupuis of Berlin, and several nieces, nephews and close friends.
