Gertrude A. Gagnon passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, November 22, 2019 at St. Vincent de Paul Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 93 years old.
Born in Berlin, on August 13, 1926 she was the daughter of Narcisse and Marie (Francoeur) Beaudoin. She attended Guardian Angel school and was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish now Good Shepherd Parish. She was employed by Weare Knitters for twenty-five years, the Globe shopping center for seven years, and Brody’s lady shop for seven years.
On June 11, 1945 she married Lawrence “Chum” Gagnon and although they didn’t have their own children they spent much time spoiling and loving their many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews as though they were their own.
In Gertrude’s retirement years she spent several years volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop, the food pantry, senior meals and visited the nursing homes on a daily basis. She enjoyed playing cards at both the Golden Age Club and The Ladies of Saint Anne. She also liked crocheting and visiting friends and family. She and her husband most enjoyed their time spent at their camp in Little Berlin, the hot spot for family gatherings.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Lawrence A. Gagnon in 2003, her daughter Darlene Arcand, whom she raised as her own; her brothers Henry, Ovila, Laurier, Adrien and Roland “Sonny” Beaudoin; her sisters Juliette Landry, Rose Brisson, Freda Belanger, Lillian Theberge, Aline (Marie)Cote and Irene Lessard.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Pamela Morales and Jerry McKenzie, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 27th from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish on Wednesday, November 27th at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at St. Kieran’s Cemetery.
